These utilities have been developed to help solve support issues or provide solutions to specific problems. Unless otherwise specified, these utilities have not gone through any specific testing process and are offered 'as is' with no guarantee of function or reliability. It is recommended that you do not use these utilities unless you are directed to by a P Squared support engineer.

BootStuff

BootStuff is a simple application developed by P Squared to assist in the correct start up of P Squared applications but it can also be used to intelligently launch any third party application.

It's primary roles are:

• To check for the presence of a network location or resource prior
  to starting a P Squared application
• To use an alternative network location or resource if the primary
  location is not available

Support File Generator and Configuration Tool

This application generates P Squared Support Files without the need for a P Squared program to be actively running.

The Support Files are usually generated by P Squared applications and contain key data to help the P Squared support team pin point issues and solve problems. If however, the problem is that the P Squared product will not load then you can not generate a Support file.

It also contains the Configuration Tool which can be used to help resolve configuration problems that prevent other programs from starting correctly.

Database Support File Generator

This application retrieves Databases and sends them in a  P Squared Support File without the need for a P Squared program to be actively running.
If you are using SQL Server, then you MUST run this tool on the SQL Server itself, and you must have the correct rights to create Backups of the SQL Database.

The Support Files are usually generated by P Squared applications and contain key data to help the P Squared support team pin point issues and solve problems. If however, the problem is that the P Squared product will not load then you can not generate a Support file.

Debug File Deleter

(Updated 4th August 2013)

This utility automatically deletes P Squared Debug files that are older than a specified number of days. Debug Files can get quite large so this utility helps to reduce the amount of disk space used.

For example you use the Windows Task Scheduler to run this utility every day at midnight and tell it to delete all Debug Files that are 5 days old or longer.

Database Compact/Repair Utility

This utility Compacts and repairs a standard database using the Microsoft Database Engine.

Before running this utility you must make sure that you have closed all software that is accessing the database - it can only work if it has exclusive access to the file.

Change Database Locking Mode Utility

This utility changes the Locking Mode that the Microsoft Database Engine uses when accessing a database to "Record Level Locking" instead of the default "Page Level Locking".

By default, Microsoft uses Page Level Locking as this is the fastest method. However this can cause problems if one user needs to be altering other information nearby in the same database - say a presenter in the studio editing the first few items in an hour in Studio B while Studio A is playing out the last few items in the previous hour.

As a cautionary note, this setting only "sticks" while the database is open by at least one user. The moment it is closed by all users the setting is lost and has to be re-set. The correct procedure is therefore:

• Close the database in all locations by all users.

• Use this utility to change the mode and leave it running

• Re-open the database using your normal software.

• You can now safely close this utility as there will be at least one connection open elsewhere which will cause the database to remain in the new locking mode.

Note: Myriad v3,Scoop v3,Nexus v1 and theP Squared Directory already use Record Level Locking, so this utility will not change any performance. Users should not use this utility to change the Database Mode of ANY AutoTrack databases as this can result in very slow scheduling performance. In practice this utility is most likely only of use to Myriad v2 users.

Soundcard Information Gatherer

This little utility converts displays all of the information about the Soundcards fitted to your computer. This information can then be saved to a text file which can be emailed to Technical Support if nescessary

Myriad Disk Space Calculator

This little utility converts hard disk size to amount of audio storage space at a range of qualities using either linear or compressed (IMA ADPCM 4:1) formats.

Powerlog v3 Disk Space Calculator

This utility tells you how much hard drive capacity you will need to log X days at CD quality stereo (linear or compressed) followed by X days at a lower quality of your choosing.

Prioritise

This command line utility allows you to run other applications at specific process priority. You should not use this utility unless directed to by a P Squared support engineer.

TCP Bounce

This utility allows you to monitor TCP traffic by placing it in to the communication chain.

Sleeper

This utility will run a specified program after a specified time period and is usually used to delay the start of programs until the 'boot up' sequence has fully finished.

Note: In most situations, Boot-Stuff is a better solution than Sleeper. See herefor more details.

Time Logger

Periodically logs system time to a log file. Used to trace problems with radio clocks jumping.

For the majority of hardware that P Squared Products are compatible with you should always consult the manufacturer's website for the latest version of their drivers - in particular for Windows 7 drivers. However, for older Operating Systems or for situations where there is a known problem this section contains links to older versions of drivers that Manufacturers may no longer host themselves. These should only be used at the direction of P Squared Support.

P Squared recognise that these drivers remain the property of the third party manufacturers and provides links to these drivers purely as a convenience to our customers. If in doubt please contact the hardware manufacturer or visit their web site.
